Wroxeter Roman Village

19th June 2018 at 2.30 p.m.

Wroxeter was once the fourth largest city in Roman Britian.  We will explore the Roman remains before visiting the nearby Roman Town House complete with bath and furniture.  Guided Tour.  Own Transport.

Amazon Fulfillment Centre, Rugeley

Tuesday 3rd July at 11 a.m.

We will travel in our own transport to Rugeley for a tour of Amazon.  Limited to 35 people.  Please wear closed toed sensible shoes.  If you are interested give your name to the treasurer at our meeting.


Carnforth Station & Leighton Hall

24th July at 8.30 a.m.

We will leave Stafford at 8.30 to travel by coach to Carnforth where you can enjoy the nostalgia of the station, which has been restored to it's 1940's glory when the Refreshment Room was used as the setting for David Lean's film, "Brief Encounter".  There will be time for coffee and a look round the Heritage Centre.  We will leave Carnforth at 12.30 and make the short journey to Leighton Hall, the lived-in house of the famous furniture making Gillow family, where we will partake of a soup and sandwich lunch before touring the house and gardens.  There are no barriers in this house, you will be encouraged to sit on the furniture, touch things and really get involved.  We hope to be back in Stafford by 7.00 p.m., M6 pemitting.

Tixall Village

Thursday 6th September at 2 p.m.

Please note that this date has been changed from 4th Sept.

 

Dr Anne Andrews will take us into the Church and explain the fascinating history of the Tixall Churches.  We will then take a short walk to view the Gatehouse and Stables to Tixall Hall.  This will be followed by tea & biscuits in the Village Hall.
